carol_watson 0 Posted October 3, 2003 I gasped when coming around the curve in the road and seeing this ominous landscape for the first time. Quake Lake is located between West Yellowstone and Ennis, MT. The lake was formed after a massive earthquake in the 1950's caused an entire side of a mountain to slide down, blocking off the Madison River. Comments appreciated. Link to comment

WJT 653 Posted October 5, 2003 And very nice too! Is the water rising there or have those dead trees been standing for 50 years? Regards. Link to comment
