swenson 0 Posted October 2, 2003 I was in NYC for the day and in the afternoon I stopped in at B&H and bought a grauduated sunset filter. A few hours later I stacked it with a 2 stop GND (hard) for this and this shot. Let me know which you liked better.More at SwensonStudio.com Link to comment
jbachie 0 Posted October 2, 2003 Pretty cool but the sun is too hot. I like the lanterns. Link to comment
california-seascapes-photo 0 Posted October 27, 2003 I have been considering experimenting with some of these filters myself. I like the composition in this, but I'm not sure if I like the effect this filter has on the sun, maybe just another variation of this without the sun or possibly just the sky more underexposed. I think I prefer your other photo over this one, yet both are nice. Link to comment
cuneyt_selcuk1 0 Posted November 6, 2003 Very good composition, very cool effect on the sun! Link to comment
cliff_krauter 0 Posted November 8, 2003 I know exactly where this is, my second home is just down the boardwalk. Beautiful sun, the graduated filter really balances the light, more so than I would have expected. If you'd like I have a shot of Hoboken from just about where you are in my folder take a look. http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=260868 Link to comment
sunapeephoto 0 Posted November 15, 2003 The composition is very nice, but the lanterns lead ny eye into the right hand side of the photo. the sun is very hot so my eyes don't want to look at it. Your other photo is good, but I don't think I can make a judgement on the filter differences because the light with only half the sun above the horizon is different from the light of the full sun here. Both pictures have good sky colors. Link to comment
nicolasdaudin 0 Posted November 22, 2003 The sun looks incredible and i like the contrast with the blue lights. Very nice shoot! Link to comment
mindseye1 0 Posted November 22, 2003 If I didnt know better I'd think this was a shot of Venice. Paul Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted December 9, 2003 I too thought that it's Venice from the thumbnail! Sun is a bit too hot, but the image still works beautifully nevertheless. I particularly like the glowing blue lanterns, the skyline silhouette, and of course the very interesting sky. All of your dawn/dusk images are very nice. Link to comment

toby_duffill 0 Posted December 15, 2003 hi jim, this photo is nice, a little too much glare but still a nice shot. the lanterns lead you into the horizon. the second shot has reduced the glare through later timing in the day, i'm guessing. it has very strong colours with sharp edges. my only comment would be maybe less water in the foreground, this does not detract from my enjoyment of looking at your art. maranwilson 1 Posted May 7, 2004 Nice composition. I like the clouds and the blue lanterns. I do wonder, however, whether this picture would be better with a little less exposure so that the sun and water highlights are not blown out quite so much. Of course the blue lanterns would have stood out less that way, so it's hard to say. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted August 9, 2004 I like this one more because of the backlit lanterns and the scenery - the only thing I have to moan about is the upper bar of the fence covering the horizon. Regards, Carsten Link to comment
stephan petersen 0 Posted October 27, 2004 I like this one even though i think the sun is a little to bright in my oppinion, I just love the small blue laterns. Like blue diamonds. 5/6 ! Link to comment
