Amy,

There's not much to recommend this scene - rocky littered ground, chain link and barbed wire, misshapen leafless vegetation, monochromatic skies.  You captured the mood.

Mark has said it very well. Nothing to see here, move on. And yet the scene refuses to go away. The use of the barest traces of color is very effective. Bleak but not without hope, even if the hope resides in the expectations of the photographer.

Reminds me of a hot, cloudy day in north Florida (think Gainesville), those days in August when you wonder where that heat is coming from.  Then you look up, and you see that sun still blazing its way through the haze to heat the steam bath boiling over from the Gulf of Mexico.

 

Wait!  Did I feel a bit of moving air?  Hot air, humid air, yes, but moving. . .

Thanks all for looking. It's just one of those scenes that begged me to point my camera. Clearly, your guess is as good as mine.
