I rather like this work. Location of her face to one side was good composition to balance the light show elsewhere. One of the more appealing to me as digital creations w people centered portrait. Aloha and I call it nice one.

Your granddaughter has such a beautiful smile in this Portrait Bill.  I like your end result very well.  Another way to work the texture would be to just soften the texture that remains on her mouth, right eye, and perimeter of face. This of course is only if you think it will improve the composition.  Your title is 'Texture with a smile' so I was not sure if you wanted some of the 'texture' to be on her 'smile'.  You could also 'mask' back in the 'texture' on the right hand of the composition where it is 'smoother' in her hair.  So good to see you posting.  Eager to see some of your Garden shots as well!

best always, Gail

Patsy , Gerry and Pierre , Thanks for your comments . Gail , I appreciate your suggestion  and can see what you mean . My idea was to have the portrait showing through the texture . I didn't want to mask too much off her face as that would have made the texture into just a background ! Bill

Dear Bill,

About the texture of this portrait, I prefer to enjoy it, just the one you've chosen. Besides, few times have I addressed the issue of texture with other photographers and they have almost declared war on me, just for giving my opinion : -)  so...

What predominates in your work, is the moment when you choose colors, usually bright colors. As they are a gamble, your texture is consistent, is predominant, they have character both texture and colors.

Combine three or more vivid colors in an image with success is really difficult, very difficult and you've got a very attractive effect. No chromatic conflict, in my opinion.

It's a dynamic combination and all nuances are taken by color.

Red - yellow - green / blue (in her eyes) create a strong contrast in the composition.

And her smile is charming ... thus, congratulations on this portrait ...

Kindest regards, Laura.

Hi Bill,

I thought that is what you would say and had meant to convey that perhaps you left that part of the texture on her face for that very reason.  I apologise for not conveying that.  When I interpreted your title 'verbally' then I knew it made certain sense that the texture would be on her mouth and some on her face.  I think it looks fine the way it is. You always have beautiful visions with your compositions. Lovely work!

helped by her smile, love the orange like color chosen to this beauty with green eyes, it gives even more candor to this portrait. Nicely done work! Regards.

(thanks always for your kind words to my images)

Beautiful smile and captivating eyes. The orange attracted me because I read somewhere that is the color of creativity! Take good care.

A very imaginative presentation!  The warm tones enhance her smile and contrasts sharply with her green eyes thereby enhancing them too.  Best,  Len.
