aarkp 2 Posted March 12, 2015 Your monochromes are always superbly toned! A lovely portrait of the venerable gentleman. Link to comment
Wouter Willemse 851 Posted March 14, 2015 I love it how this photo makes a point (on barriers for elderly to easily use today's technologies) without hammering it home, without making it a sentimental appeal, without basically trying to change my point of view on it. It just shows it, an observing photo that appears objective without detachment or distance. There are precious few photos that manage this thin line, so all the more precious those who manage to do so, and then even be an all-round good photo. A remarkable talent for involved, engaged photos that remain well balanced at the same time. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted March 18, 2015 I gather that this is not Murray but one of his friends. As Wouter said, your pictures tell the tale with great poignancy and a minimum of fuss or editorial comment. Link to comment
human images 4 Posted March 19, 2015 Rajat, thank you much!Drew --- always the comments of an insightful connoisseur!Wouter, I so appreciate how you see things, your photographic sensibility!Jack, yes you’re right, this is not Murray, but Gustave J., a friend of Murray, and a friend and neighbor of mine. He shows up in another shot HERE. Gustave endures advance macular degeneration, hence the magnifying glass. I visit with Gustave whenever possible and in the late afternoon of this shot he was about to show me a series of pictures he had just received. The text in the email accompanying the photographs, reads: “Attached are the pictures from today’s lunch. It was a great idea of Clair’s to meet today to remember our friend Murray. All the best, Bruno." Link to comment
