Pierre Dumas 278 Posted March 2, 2015 Welcome and thank you, David! It sure will come one day for each of us, no doubt about that! Welcome and thank you, Vlad! Who is the guardian and who the visitor here? Guardian of the tree, the holy tree? Not a bad idea and interpretation! PDE Link to comment
stephanie_c1 1 Posted March 2, 2015 this one is great and so is the title! its a crime for a man to be driving a BEETLE but death is a bit extreme? the dudes in the cars look like the same guy? i guess the grim reaper missed him the first go around? Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 278 Posted March 2, 2015 Dear Stephanie, Your keen eye and mind omits nothing, yes, the guy is the same and about the crime of driving Beetle, it deserves capital penalty, ha! I used to drive one just for a while and I once escaped from the grim reaper for millimeters! Cheers to that PDE Link to comment
lesliejbng 0 Posted March 2, 2015 What lies ahead......Wonderfully creative and artistic. The fog is hiding the reaper, he is unexpected. Eerily haunting.Amazing work as always Pierre :)Leslie Link to comment

michaellinder 16,612 Posted March 5, 2015 Hopefully my words won't simply repeat the thousands of comments already posted to this image. That's the risk I run by being tardy. One can address the image by stating the obvious. There are two symbolic representations of death - the black, lifeless tree and the proverbial grim reaper. Then we have representations of people moving toward their death. I prefer to address the photograph by departing from the obvious. It is not simply a matter of people moving toward their death. The crux of it is that they are being assisted in reaching that destination by technological devices designed and manufactured by fellow human beings. Moreover, all of this is happening in a manner disconnected from the physical world. Indeed, the entire scene is a representation of a dream, or better still, a nightmare. And it raises the possibility of its not belonging to any one person, but instead being universal. Who knows? I may be channeling Carl Jung's concept of the collective unconscious. Thanks for the opportunity to exercise my intellect, whatever is left of it! michael Link to comment
