Beautiful moment really , it looks as if the bird was posing for you...nice as well is the soft color and light.

great photo and joy to behold: a "decisive moment captured" and a story by combining every day elements (which are together much more than the sum of their parts).

Thanks for the comments on this picture. One problem I always seem to deal with is uploading vertical images while maintaining picture quality. With pictures like this one with a lot of fine detail in the ground, it seems that compressing the image so that it can be viewed in the larger version without scrolling often results in some pixelization. The uploaded image is nowhere near as smooth as the original jpeg seen on my computer. This was originally shot in RAW and converted to jpeg. I wonder if anyone out there has some suggestions on how to get better uploading results.

Pnina, nice to see your name turn up on one of my pictures. You've been missed around here. So many of my old compatriots seem to have abandoned the field. It's nowhere near as much fun as it used to be. Wolfgang, thanks for your always thoughtful remarks. Much appreciated. Michael, I think he's more of a game piece on a board than its creator. Go back two spaces and spin again.

Pigeon has a bit of a 'Sherlock' appeal.  Perusing the evidence at the scene of the crime. I like the light and shadow play. Vignette works well with the  presentation. (as far as uploading Verticals, sorry, wish I knew how as well)
