marcos_gonzalez 0 Posted October 1, 2003 the priest should have been smoking a cigarette in one hand and a martini in the other. I like it Link to comment
ricardojmendez 0 Posted October 1, 2003 Hi Piotr, I love the sense of humor. I was raised on a catholic society but don't consider myself a catholic at all, and this photo really amuses me. Some notes: while the background is a bit cluttered, I can let it pass because it adds a feeling of a lived-in house. The while splotch in the frame, however, distracts too much since it is the hotter spot in the whole image. Link to comment
richard_crane2 0 Posted October 1, 2003 Judging from your snap shot portfolio I guess you decided to tap into a hot button issue. Well it did generate more comments. You should be ashamed of yourself. Link to comment
shamir_patel 0 Posted October 1, 2003 Brilliant. Funny and serious at the same time. A polemic... Link to comment
koval 0 Posted October 1, 2003 You meant the guy on the photo , right ? I have not done anything to that woman ::)))PK Link to comment
aprilanderton 0 Posted October 1, 2003 I guess my mind is not quite in the same place as others. I saw a husband on a lunch break! Priest or not, from the title I imagined a man proud of his 'accomplishment'. I have no experience with catholic or other priests and grew up in a religion where clergy are married and are family men. So, our experience can influence our perspective EVEN if the intent of the image was provocative. - I imagine that photo frame on the dresser has a family photo of the other kids the couple already has. daniel_rodriguez4 0 Posted October 1, 2003 I love this shot... amazing.. the sense of sin... and fulfillment of desire... it looks like a crime and makes you want to look around the room for leftover evidence... but it also makes you want me congratulate the priest for doing what he wants... but maybe, just maybe the priest did not have sex with her... who knows... oh, by the way... I have not read all of the comments... but there is just one candle, again, this is a photo looking into a mirror...really good... really good story! Link to comment
rasmus_engles 0 Posted October 1, 2003 A courageous picture with such a mixed content. Link to comment
barney_ustaszewski 0 Posted October 1, 2003 this looks like an inspirational poster you get framed in plastic at one of the mall "galleries". it is cheesey beyond belief. my disgust comes not from the trite attempt at irony in the content OR the cutesy title, but from the cellulite and sweat on the female. pardon me while i vomit. mile_s 0 Posted October 1, 2003 I've read some on the comments (English only :-) Some are saying that it's the end. I disagree. I think it's a beginning. The way the woman is positioned. It looks like she is taking off her stocking - with one hand - while the other supports her. The candles are out, but not recently - no smoke. Overall a nice image. Interested to know what you were trying to say. Link to comment
margaret_s. 0 Posted October 2, 2003 Barney: Obviously the man who got her pregnant thinks she's beautiful and perfect just the way she is and he didn't find her "cellulite" repulsive. Welcome to the real world :-) Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 2, 2003 "(Im)maculate Conception"Still we dont see the full-face of God, but we can see the result of his(?) action... whose picture is on the frame on desk? is the light umbrella in the frame on wall intentionnal or accidental? is he leaving or coming? why the little cross in hand? so many questions? aruel 0 Posted October 2, 2003 A very fine piece that "reflects" hipocresy and its reproduction over time. Also how hard it is for the viewers to confront with it: instead of a direct image we have a reflection (actually de viewer is not confronting since his backwards the situation) and the eyes of the priest (device we use to confront) are hidden. There is also lots of things, but sometimes our minds needs to figure it out things by its self. Thanks PK. Link to comment
stefanovandelli 0 Posted November 12, 2003 Congratulations for the publishing on December's PP. The printing ont he magazine appears toned. Was that intentional? I much prefer the pure B&W posted to PN. Cheers, Stefano Link to comment
koval 0 Posted November 12, 2003 PP received the same file..it is more a problem with colour separation and convertion to CMYK without someone checking he result ...:) Link to comment
stefanovandelli 0 Posted November 13, 2003 Sounds like a rather poor performance from PP. Link to comment

charles_olszewski 0 Posted November 26, 2003 I've read all English comments, and I must agree with most of them. This is a very reflective piece of work. Because it's showing a reflection, what we see is also a reflection, opposite yet equal to what is really there. It might reflect what is in our minds, in which case we've already decided what it's saying before we even see it. It's interesting that you show the duality of the candle. I think that might be tying in to the message below the picture. "Altar Ego" works well for this photo. I doubt that the meaning has anything to do with a table upon which sacrifices are made (please see official Catholic canon description of 'altar'), but it works great as a play on words. The duality of the candle suggests the duality of the priest. On one side, he burns with the passion of modern priesthood, taking his role in the Church seriously; on the other side, he burns just as passionately with the woman. Once again, equal, yet opposite. But the truth of the matter remains the same on both sides of the mirror, the priest will burn. Link to comment
juan_kratzmaier 0 Posted December 15, 2003 I am to lazy to get up now and look for the right PP mag but I am pretty sure you've won something with this amazing pic. Best regards, Link to comment
erikj 0 Posted December 19, 2003 This is great! I love the way you are concisely telling a story here. I like the caption, but feel it is unnecessary. Link to comment
jmp 0 Posted August 27, 2004 I too read most of the comments except those in polish. This is amazing artwork! I guess "Altar Ego" is referring to the mirror reflecting oneself, ie. the ego. The true self. Is it saying despite religion, beyond the ideologies, the true driving force behind mankind is to reproduce? Its a biologically normal phenomenon that leads to a new life and supercedes religion. The woman is pregnant, carrying their child. Is the act a sin, or is it the beauty that is the new child? What does that say about religion? Link to comment
