Colorado: Spring Creek Road: Blue River Vista

The Blue River is still running quite nicely here. It's a popular Kayaking stream through this section.

Maybe I have no right but here's my 2 cents.

I would have like to see more sky in the frame, the coloring is overwelming and would be a nice contrast between the somewhat dark river and the clear bright sky.

Excellent colors. I would have loved a slower shutter speed if at all possible to make the water silky. Good perspective and composition.

I wasn't really looking at this one for a long exposure since the light was so bright on the trees in the background. I reckon I'll have to get an ND1.2 so I can do more of those.

I love the contrast between the brightness of the trees and the dark blue water. I'd hate to see this river go all silky-smooth by a long exposure. It's just not how we would ever see this - it would be way too artificial.

This is terrific just the way it is.

And take along a giant sunshade to put the hillside behind the trees in shadow while you're at it.

Red, Yellow, Green, Blue... some of my favorite colors! Were you actually on a bank here? Kinda looks like you're in the creek.

In this case, however, I stood on the Spring Creek Road bridge over the Blue River. It would have been nice to have a shadow over the sagebrush meadow behind the trees but there were hardly any clouds that day. The shadow over the river is cast by the bluff next to it and not by clouds.

Outstanding colors! I especially like the colors and texture of the water. A longer exposure would have eliminated that. Personally, I would not change anything.

I could have tried it with the tripod but it didn't occur to me in this case. I guess I'm only conditioned to try long exposures in low light and on small streams. Next time I will at least consider it before making a quick snap.
