Colorado: Granby: Solvista Ski Area

We about killed ourselves hiking to the fop of this ski run. I would say about 800 ft. of very steep vertical at about 8-9,000

feet of elevation. My wife and I made it in 35 minutes which, for us, is fast. This particular image was made about two-thirds

of the way back down from the summit.

The colors of fall are one thing I really do miss having, living here where we never really see them. The glow of the light shining through the red and yellow is entrancing. I could just stare at it forever. These colors are captured exceptionally well in this shot, and the color of the sky just makes me wish I were there even more.

Now I see why so many people get hurt and killed skiing into trees out there...

 

I thought the shed was a wide door standing out in the middle of nowhere at first. It certainly needed the emplanation you gave. The subtle transition from mountain to sky is barely detectable, but it seems to work well with the great colors and "C" word you found here. You would make Rowell proud, knowing you worked so hard for this one.

I, on the other hand, did break a sweat.

 

As to the trees, yes, they do run into them a lot. I witnessed one such collision a few years ago. No one saw it but my wife and I so we started screaming from our perch on the lift and finally got someone's attention. We have no idea what happened after that as we were on our way up and when we went down it was to another base area.
