Ah ha, a 1.4 extender. Great detail in the feathers. Still, these birds are notoriously shy, aren't they? Good close up shot.

 

What is that background? water, perhaps?

I see you share my passion for these birds! I haven't seen one here with quite the same colors. They are interesting birds to photograph. This composition is nicely balanced.
