Wow, the essence of cold!  Good shot... Mike

Your visits are much appreciated.  I've been sitting on this one for almost 2 years now and since I've been slack with the photography for a month or so I thought I'd resurrect this somewhat oldie.  The kids were having a lot of fun in the ice block maze when I motioned for them to look out the 'window'.  The result pleased me.  Have a Merry Christmas & happy New Year.  See you in 2015 at the latest.  Best, LM.

Wow, it's like Gerda and Kai from the Snow Queen tale! Very creative and well composed image, great use of reflections (is it a reflection?).

Into my favorites. Two elements, cold and so warm together.

Even the colors of their jackets play this warm-cold game.

Bravoo!

Two of my grandchildren are standing behind a wall of ice blocks, part of a maze installed for the kids at Barrie's Winterfest.  Thanks for you visit and your thoughts.  Best, LM.

As I recall it was very cold indeed that day.  I couldn't resist a shot through the ice of their distorted features.  Thanks for your most welcome visit.  Best, LM.

Many thanks for your take on this family favourite.   As I've said, it was chilly but, properly dressed for the day, the kids seemed to enjoy it.  Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.  See you again in 2015.  Best, LM.

Thanks for the validation.  Sometimes you have to react quickly to a situation or to execute an idea.  This was one of those times.  The P&S camera shines in situations like this one.  Best, LM.

What I like in this photo is the strong feeling of a heavy winter. .Despite the wind which is expressed by the diagonal lines movements ,it is a very colorful work, because of the strong coats differences. Nice as well is the DOF with the black back sack of the child..Realy interesting kind of weather, that we don't used to see in our area.....;-))

Nice to hear from you during this festive season. (or any other time, for that matter) :-)  The kids are looking through a washed block of ice, part of an ice maze assembled for their amusement.  Just luck that the diagonal lines imitate gusts of cold wind.  And it was cold that day but as you can see they are dressed for it.  This weather may be unusual for you but Meir Samel has shown it's not beyond the realm of possibility, even in Jerusalem.  Best wishes of the season.  Hope to continue these dialogues in 2015.  Len.

So much to love about this image.....the brilliant color contrasting with the cool ice, the texture in the ice, and the joy and fun the girls (?) are experiencing from the looks on their faces, which are visible through the ice.  Very clever and successful image!  And I also 'see' a grandpa who loves having fun with his grandchildren!  I'm so glad to know about this festival in Barrie.  Norm and I had wanted to head north the week after Xmas.  I was off work, and I wanted to photograph some ice and snow somewhere.  The only winter festival I knew of was in Ottawa, but that wasn't until Feb.    We even considered Niagara Falls, but there was no ice yet.  Drat!!!  Where is last winter's weather when I need it?  :-)  Hope you had a great holiday, and all the best in 2015!

Little girl in pink, her cousin, a boy, in black.  Well, if it's snow you wanted to see, I hear Buffalo might have some to spare & you wouldn't even need a passport. :-)  Getting hammered (with snow) in Barrie at the moment.  If I get the snow blower out it'll be for the second time today.  Last winter?  Brutal!  This winter?  Getting to be a pain already.  Thanks for your most welcome visit.  Best, LM.
