In my opinion, there are no imperfections in this shot. It is real and unaltered. Amazing! Sure it was a lucky shot but it was a shot that you were striving for and you got it. Great work. Wonderful image!! 7/7. My first 7/7 to date.

great idea, and I understand how difficult this can be. Anyway, one improvement is possible: to have the focus on the water crown, and not the fingers behind. I know this is not easy, specially if you're working in low light conditions, then with a very narrow dof. But I think it deserves a try. BTW: you forgot to close your bold html marks, the whole page now is bolded!!! :-)

maybe you could get even sharper by moving the idea into a studio setting. it will be easier than what you have already accomplished and it will be even clearer and controlled. i did many shots involving water. one where the drops formed crowns in a pitri dish. the idea of using the hand is brilliant. the human element can really bring some life into a sciency shot.

In response to the question of angle, I do not think that it matters. The image is striking because without a photo, it is impossible to see water like that. I really love this picture, and so does everyone else in this room. Thanks for sharing it!

I think that you should have taken the picture so you see the inside of the hand. The thumb is hiding parts of the water ring and the thumb is also cropped. Otherwise a good shot.
