More impact in this image. The B/W now focuses the eye on the form of the subject and not all the tiny scars it probably has. Your POV is the basically the same as my professional photographer friend's. Well done.

An outstanding graphical presentation of a Saguaro cactus! The skies going almost to black increases the impact!

 

Given the number of "arms" on this one, this cactus is quite old, perhaps even a hundred years old or more.
