Guest Guest Posted October 23, 2007 Although the image is interesting with your effects and effort put into it, it is not a well polished finished product. Simply a straight head on shot, and the girl looks like she has an attitude. The nose looks crooked, and adding a crooked line down her nose makes it worse. Letting paint drip, scribbling red on her shoulder or blue lines at the top of her nose just doesn't do her justice (my kid can do that). It's one thing to apply artistic effects, another to mess it up, applying it without much thought. I think it needs more work, the image has potential. The technique is good, but it needs another try at it (get rid of the red scribbling on the shoulder, those lines have no meaning or value other then looking like a child damaging it). rogerjporter 0 Posted October 23, 2007 I bought Peter Gowland's last pocket view 4x5 camera almost 20 years ago or so, he had stopped making them but had enough parts on hand to make one more... he is super nice, and the camera is still holding up. glad to hear he is still kicking. i always wanted a gowlandflex too, but couldn't justify it. great painterly effect on the photo, it has a great energy to it! Guest Guest Posted October 23, 2007 "Camper speaks... I'll give it a try, thank you Camper. Curious what you're making. " Apparently, you expect 100% positive replies! You think it is so good that everyone must like it. Like the stock market, you got ups and downs, some like it, some don't. I am tired of everyone saying how great things are in here. That's what you want to hear, but it does not make it so. Sorry. What am I making? Prints without scribbling, girls with straight noses (do you really think the line down her nose looks proper, or serves some purpose?). I like artistic effects in my photos, but I don't scribble over it when it is done. A few less notes, as Mozart was told by the king, will then be just right. Link to comment
studioallure 0 Posted October 23, 2007 Nice texture, and colors. Really an attention getter. Link to comment
danmikulski 0 Posted October 24, 2007 The process sounds impressive. I find the use of primary colors extremely uninteresting. I do enjoy the various textures. Link to comment
chris_taylor9 0 Posted October 24, 2007 A fabulous depiction of one of the furies. Very classical, primal, statuesque, yet modern in its own way. Link to comment
atelier voor fotografie 0 Posted October 25, 2007 Thanks all for your positiveness. What happened that 23rd of October? And Camper, even if nobody likes it, I still think it's good many times. I am not that kind of artist that works for the common spectator particularly. I wasn't hurt by the lesson you were teaching at all, just curious whom it came from. Just for you to know; that scribbling comes before I put the emulsion on top of the paint. Many things happen on impuls and by chance with this technique and I'm making mistakes all the time because of that. And I don't mind. floris andrea Link to comment
