who r u people giving all these ratings?

speak your minds! what good is it to just give appallingly low ratings and not say anything?

if u have criticism let's hear it, y does it suck? y is it not original?

is it not well seen? is the composition poor? does it have no mood or feel to it? does it convey nothing? is it in no way interesting?

speak!

just for the record, i said that when there were less than 5 ratings so that only i could view them and it was a 2 and a 3...

average, like it is now, that's one thing, but a 2 or a 3? u should b ready to tell someone y when u give ratings like that.. in my opinion anyway

even aside from that, i don't understand y people don't take the time to comment more on pictures? good, or bad, that's what the critique forum is for no? don't u want feedback on your own pictures when u post them?

ratings r one thing.... but it's not the same as hearing y u like or don't like something, or how u see something, what it means to u, or if it means anything to u...

some photos have hundreds of views or more, and 30 or 40 ratings but no comments... that's ridiculous

This looks disgusting, so the title is appropriate; it's original, but I just don't like it, ugly colors, sorry... Btw, don't mind the ratings, they don't mean too much anyway, and being viewed and rated means that your pictures are worth while anyway! So, keep on smiling and continue making pictures! WJ ;)

hmm, well, we all see things differently...

i agree the title is appropriate, not because it looks disgusting, but because it's literally what's going on in the picture... this is peeling paint and rust. i don't equate decay with looking disgusting however, on the contrary it's often breathtakingly beautiful. in this case i don't think it's beautiful, but i think it's an interesting pattern and design and texture, and that it's kind of sad and nostalgic... that's just how it strikes me.. the colors ugly? hmm, it reminds of my dad's old blue/green '57 chevy, which i always thought of as ugly as a small kid.. but now i just think it's the context.. and i wonder if you would think of these colors as ugly in another composition or context.. i mean baby blue is a pretty inoffensive color to most people. the brownish parts at the edges of the paint, i can see that as ugly.the midnight blue/purple parts of the metal i think is quite nice... and black is black...

anyway, thanks for your opinion, we don't have to agree. it's nice to know what your thinking anyway and i'm sorry you found it disgusting! haha

wow, now i'm more convinced of my comments about the colors and also perplexed somewhat after looking at your comments on other pictures (it always helps in putting someone's views in context by seeing what else they like/dislike)

in shot after shot that you compliment or say "nice colors" in, i find that exact same blue in part or much of the shots. and not only that but i see strikingly similar shots of decay, in an old rusting car, one that you shot, and one that your brother did, which you liked... and personally, i find that burnt orange/brown type of rust much uglier than the colors in this shot... i'm not saying those were ugly shots, they were ok, but i'm now confused by your comments... cest la vie

Hi Aaron, just a brief reaction on yours: i don't equate decay with looking disgusting however, on the contrary it's often breathtakingly beautiful. Im afraid I must admit youre right here: I like the burnt orange/brown type of rust of the old rusting cars pictures you apparently viewed (thanx!). I also like, for instance, the dislocated door in my France folder, not the best example of well-preserved material either! Still, I don't like your decay shot, even though I know what it is now (not as ugly as it looks!). We just have a different taste, I suppose. What seems to be similar to one person, may appear very different to another. [For instance, many people like 'cheese'. Though being a Dutchman, I dont like Dutch cheese (flavor 1/originality 10, haha! many people will disagree with me); I do like some other cheeses though (even blue cheese, full of moulds: decay???).]

hmm, it reminds of my dad's old blue/green '57 chevy, which i always thought of as ugly as a small kid and i wonder if you would think of these colors as ugly in another composition or context Probably not: its not only the colors of a picture that make a person (dis)like it. Unfortunately, its kind of difficult to share memories that go along with each of your own pictures. Memories of the place/context/time/moment add much to the pictures I took, 10/10 ;-)

Well, since this is a photo site in the first place rather than a discussion site, Id better finish up now. I hope you got the feedback you asked for.

WJ (Mark this person as interesting!)
