Nothing special, just some plants near the lake. I'm very new at

photography so I'm trying to get the basic pictures right first. Shot

late afternoon when the sun shows signs of orangeness. Ratings and

comments strongly encouraged for they will help me get better.

Thanks!

Dear Assad,

I read your remarks in 300D forum with interest and I picked this one from your folder for comment. Good lighting, subject is a bit plain but good effort (this is near backlighting), control of background is nevertheless quite good. My point is, if you have more interesting subject treated in the same manner, it would be a much impactful image.

I do like to share with you my experience digital/film. I started three years ago with a handy digital 200 mpixel & shot lots of pics as you said. I was not hoping to select one out of a million but i did enjoyed the many advantages as a biginner that time. To summarise , i did learn quicker (compared with my colleagues) .. if you are interested to know more, email me alanchanlun@yahoo.com

I revert back to film about one year later because conventional camera does require a little more skill and i just treated it as a kind of "drill" but in return it seems i'm getting better results.

I think one day, i shall revert back to a pro or semi-pro DSLR. 300D is indeed under careful consideration.

Anyway, nice to catch you on PN. BTW this is a really great site, shall i say, my first leap in photography is a handy digital, my second leap indeed is through learning and critiquing in this big community.

Assad, camera is just a tool. To really get advance, you have to

Learn to see (by viewing more photo from others)&

Practice more

Cheers

Alan,

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I could not ask more from better photographers than myself.

About the picture being commented on, well I spend my time at home mostly these days as I am waiting to go overseas pretty soon, so I try and find interesting things around the house, but there is only so much you can photograph around the house. I am planning a couple of trips, hopefully I'll get a chance to take pictures of more interesting subjects on that journey.

I keep on having urges to dish out the $899 for the Digital Rebel body, but then I look at the lenses I could buy with the money instead and I drop the idea. But I've made a decision to stick with film until full-frame DSLRs become cheaper or I get richer. I know a camera is just a tool, but I am a geek, I love me tools. ;-)
