mountaineer1965 0 Posted September 29, 2014 So last Thursday my wife and I headed out to Tokul Creek so I couldget more shots for a "study" I'm working on that I am callingFluidity. I decided to stop at Snoqualmie Falls on the way home andI'm glad I did. The weather was changing from the rain we had beengetting for the last few days and as the sun was setting this dramaticscene started presenting itself. I knew the sky was going to be animportant element for this shot so I slapped on a 2-stop GND and gotseveral good shots. I love shooting HDR but there is something verysatisfying about getting it on one frame, this probably goes back tomy film days...a certain nostalgia you could say. I decided on B&Wbecause I believe it more greatly presents the drama of what was goingon. I would love to hear your feedback, good or bad, on this shot. Thank you for viewing and commenting, Link to comment

rmortenson 0 Posted October 2, 2014 I'm of two minds on this. On one hand, the darkness hides much of the stunning details that certainly exist in this moment. Yet, the darkness accentuates cloud details and falling water.... OK, I'll go with "great shot." Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted October 3, 2014 Craig, All of these B&Ws in this folder are wonderful. I have taken a few images of Snoqualmie Falls under midday poor conditions, never a wide angle view like this. The wide angle captures the environment without the touristy stuff around it. I wonder in this image alone if you have captured enough zones of gray? This is just a question and a matter of preference. You did a great job showing the motion of the water and the mist at the bottom, which creates much mood. Excellent. Thanks again for your suggestions about B&W conversions. I use the Nik Software, Silver Efex Pro 2 for conversions right now and am pleased with it. Best to you. Larry Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted October 3, 2014 A superbly presented photograph that you've rendered dramatically. The dark tones and vignette transforms this into an image that is as much art as photograph. Excellent... Mike Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted October 5, 2014 Excellent. I like how the top of trees are a solid black. The water fall is nice and silky and is the center of my attention. Link to comment

jmcruz 0 Posted October 8, 2014 Hi GraigIs this the wonderland!? Sorry for ignorance, where is this?Great shot! I like the dark tone of the photo, first because it gives a nostalgic atmosphere, second because it makes us look closely and discover all the detail of the photo, on a gradual basis. The sky is very good, I love strong and dramatic skies.Best RegardsJosé Link to comment
mountaineer1965 0 Posted October 8, 2014 This waterfall is between the cities of Snoqualmie and Fall City just southeast of Seattle, Washington. It is one of the states most popular tourist attractions due to its close proximity to Seattle. An interesting fact is it that the city, and waterfall, were used in the TV series Twin Peaks, which took place in Washington. Thank you for your kind comments, I really appreciate the feedback. Take care Link to comment
luda_luda 0 Posted October 8, 2014 Hi Craig, everything works here for me. I love the silky waterfall effect you achieved, the sky is stunning, and the vintage work to emphasize the water fall. Well done IMO :)Warmest regards,LuDa Link to comment
charo 3 Posted October 10, 2014 I really enjoy this picture. I like the contrast in the sky ... It is dramatic and adds a lot to this photo! The composition is perfect, and the black and white is an excellent choice. And do not forget the falls ... "The icing on the cake" Kind Regards,Rosario. Link to comment

stephanie_c1 1 Posted October 10, 2014 i see photos like this and think BIBLICAL its not easy to get a nature shot that is technically beautiful as it is aesthetically beautiful as well,, like nature there is a fine balance and you have mastered that very well here. Link to comment
ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted October 12, 2014 Nicely done Craig. This is so much better when viewed larger Link to comment
rjmelone 3 Posted October 13, 2014 It doesn't get any better than this Craig! The sky, blurred waterfall and many shades of gray make this an image of perfection. Best regards. Link to comment
