First Light of the New Millenium

I posted this image for the Travel Photo contest here on PN a few

months ago, with no success nor even any response. But given the

new contest category "Story Behind The Story", I had to try again.

This is the South Pole, where all the world's time zones meet, on the

first day of the year 2000. Thanks for any feedback!

Hi Patrick. I enjoyed reading the backstory, and I have to admit I'm impressed with your determination to fulfill your dreams.

Fulfilling dreams sounds easy but is not, and If we get, it is something that satisfies us and makes us proud. Pride of knowing we achieved what we wanted, despite the difficulties and hardships.

The conditions were not easy, you had to work hard, but I'm glad things went well, and as a result we have a happy ending.

I don't think many people appreciate the degree of difficulty in getting this shot. Conditions, timing and a thousand other factors make this one of the best shots ever posted on PN. But only a few of us will know :-)

Great shot Patrick with excellent use of light, shadow and color! Perfectly framed too and just love the symbolic starburst!
