I love this photo because it totally captures this genuine, raw

moment in "an evening of dance" at our friends house in Huntsville,

TX...Subjects being my best friend, KIM, and my fiance STEVEN.

Steven wouldn't normally be caught dead dancing much less in that

position! BUT, it was in the wee hours of the morning after quite a

bit of drinking and our friends put on a song they were obsessed

with at the time (Madness, by:MUSE) and we all just lost

it...dancing out of control and dominating the entire house! As I

danced I watched what was going on...I grabbed my camera so not

to miss an amazing moment...such as this. The song playing at the

time this photo was taken just so happens to be by my favorite

band of all time (Dazed & Confused, by :Led Zeppelin) We danced

all night..until the sun was rising!

The energy in this photo is wonderful. It's just infectious. You've really managed to capture a moment in time. Just wondering, do you make movies as well? There's a strong story telling element to this so it just kind of gave the impression that you're also a filmmaker. One tiny thing that I would adjust would be to dull down the highlights just slightly so that the back wall, in the upper right corner, isnt so intense. Because it's the lightest area of the room, our eye naturally goes there instead of the subjects which are great! But it's just an idea:)

THANK YOU ALL for the AWESOME critiques!

Samantha...What a compliment about being a film maker!  I have always wanted to do that but haven't yet!  I have actually been a dancer my entire life until recently....:-)

And Craig...I agree 100% with the critique regarding the blurred legs.  Ah...should have caught that!

All of you have truly inspired and helped me become better at this!

Warmest Regards-

Alexis

There are so many pretty, over-produced pictures on pn nowadays it's refreshing to come upon a photographer whose pictures still retain some of that untamed energy that comes from a direct appreciation of life and its individual moments and opportunities.
