I'm a newbie to this. I'm a film guy at heart, and this digital darkroom stuff is a stretch for me. I'm quite computer savvy (I'm a programmer and trainer) but this stuff seems difficult for me. I welcome any comments and suggestions that you have.

Good work, Ken. I'd like to see the original. I think your effects are good here, but I'm not particularly fond of the colors.
