Impromptu shot on location, not studio, so I was working with just one

light. Any hints on how I can improve the retro look?

Not sure that is what you want... anyway here's a blend of contrast and brightness, some medium sized grain, and a hint of blur (all of them global adj.) for a quick hand-made filter...

It's a very nice work (yours I mean ;-))
