WJBrowning 0 Posted July 14, 2014 Jon, what a great smile, so natural and relaxed. Best wishes William. Link to comment
dom1 1 Posted July 15, 2014 I'm happy to see your model has such a beautiful smile. The lack of expression in some of the photos offset her other assets. Link to comment
John Peri 1,038 Posted July 16, 2014 Thank you friends .. a strange comment from Dominick however. This is one of the most intensely expressive models that I have worked with recently, though I may be failing to bring this across .. http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=17814876 http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=17807759 http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=17772782 nevertheless, this remains about photography, my interpretation, and not any model's particular assets .. it's my fault if any, not theirs .. : -) Link to comment
dom1 1 Posted July 17, 2014 John, your models are beautiful and you certainly have mastered the art of photographing beautiful women. I enjoy your art. But it's personal taste. For me, I like to see the warm inviting smile in this photo. It says she's human, friendly, and approachable. While her beauty shines through in the three photos you suggested, the lack of expression, or even the hint of a smile makes me think she is cold and distant, a statue like stone, similar to pouting clothing models in magazines. I prefer a smile every time. Link to comment
John Peri 1,038 Posted July 17, 2014 Hy Dominick, thank you for your comment that I have read with considerable interest, I have always appreciated the support and reflections that you make on my work. I agree that our reaction to any work is personal and subjective, and most certainly this will differ from one person to another, this is thankfully so or what a bore it would be for us all ... : -). However, though the emotions that our works evoke are indeed a direct result of the images shown, and thus fully justify any comments, I feel there is sometimes a fine line to be drawn between the critique of a photo and that of the subject in it, particularly when the opinion stated can be interpreted to reflect on the character of the person who may read it and is unable to respond in this forum (cold? distant? stone? lack of expression? no hint of a smile? etc.,..) I am equally guilty of personalizing the discussion in reply to the comment made, however though no subject can be expected to laugh or smile in every photo, this subject is particularly prone to doing so and is adequately, possibly even disproportionately represented doing it in this portfolio, here are just a few more .. : -). http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=17773274http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=17761950http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=17796385http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=17764527 (yes, with a wig) .. However, there are also times and photos in which one needs to be more serious. Best wishes my friend, John Link to comment
gsphotoguy 3 Posted July 17, 2014 I love the informality of this moment captured. This is obviously spontaneous, something we've all witnessed during our sessions. Thanks both of you for sharing this with us. Link to comment
