cq_zhang 0 Posted September 12, 2003 I like that the golden road is spread with textured sand and extends to far distance. I would like to step on it on my foot. Link to comment
randy_january 0 Posted September 13, 2003 Beautiful shot, but I can't help thinking it's a little soft on the bottom right. What aperature was this taken at? Regardless, I really enjoy the transition of this photo. Link to comment
howard liu 0 Posted September 13, 2003 Thanks for your nice comment. I used F11 (at which the lens has its peak performance) and hyperfocus for this shot. The soft right corner is partially due to the fact that it is on the other side of the dune where the contrast is low so the edges are not so well defined as the sunny side. It might also be due to the lens' softness on the corners. Link to comment
margaret_s. 0 Posted September 14, 2003 Nice colors and perspective. Gotta love that lens! Link to comment
holyexposures 0 Posted September 14, 2003 i would expect it to be sharper at the corners. maybe you focused too far out? I've seen that this lens has problems with light falloff too. I was considering buying that Nikkor, now I'm wondering... Link to comment
howard liu 0 Posted September 14, 2003 thanks for your comment. The softness may be due to the curvature of focus plan. At f11 and hyperfocus, the DOF is from about 1 foot to infinity. So I am not convinced it is the DOF problem in this case, since the lower left corner is very sharp. Anyway, the light fall off is very noticable, even at f11. So if you don't like this lens, think about other options. Link to comment
