I was shooting the gull standing on the piling when another decided

to fly by, as luck would have it. Thanks for looking, your comments

and thoughts are most welcome.

Holger,

This is a great shot.  The 2nd bird caught in flight makes this a much more appealing shot than just a single gull.  Bird in foreground is in sharp focus and b/g is slightly blurred but you get a good sense of where you are.  Congratulations on an excellent shot.

I think it's a bit unfortunate that the two seagulls are overlaping. Also, the boat in the background sort of makes me wish that the frame was wider.

I think the shot is worthy to critique but it leaves me wishing for more.

Cheers !

Serendipitous!  It's always great when the unexpected is better than the expected.  Excellent work... Mike

I've often said, " Luck is good"!  You've just reenforced that belief.  The soft background emphasizes the sharpness of the foreground gulls and in spite of that softness doubles as a provider of context.  Common scene.  Uncommon stroke of luck.  The second gull is the element which raises this above the common cliche' we've all seen many times. Yah, luck is good but you've gotta be there too.  Best, LM.

As other's have indicated, . . . "a little luck is always nice!" And, can always change the ordinary!

The Sea Gulls, Pier Pilings, and Boat really anchor the scene! (Pun intended)

I really like your "Two-fer" Gulls here too!

Cheers always,

Jim j.

Holger, another such a gorgeous capture, it's looks simple but unique, very impressive moment & rendering between dynamic state & static state of those birds, it's not easy,  you have to have a patience :), I know.     Best regards

The second bird makes the image as Len said, however getting it sharpe and in the right place is only done by great photographers like you! Congratulations. Warm regards.

Very well accomplished Holger!! Your timing couldn't have been better!! I really like the background. The entire scene has that 'nautical' feel. POV/crop is well chosen Holger!

Thanks Gail, sometimes you need a little luck, and I'll take it. Always good to hear from you. See you soon.
