Students at a Jr. High School Sports Festival

This has a Muybridgian flavor, enhanced by the uniforms and the background, with its pattern of regular horizontal lines.  It has a nice symmetry with the tree down the middle and the regular spacing of the students.

I think what strikes me about this photo is the contrast between the running students and the onlookers in the background. Even when I was a kid looking through my aunt's photo book, pictures taken well before my time, I was fascinated as much by what was in the background - the cars, the passersby, the houses and all the extraneous details as by the actual subject of the photo itself.. Here we can study the expressions, attitudes, dress, etc. of parents, grandparents and siblings as they respond to the activities on the field. I like that.

have you tried burning in the background a bit?  This could be a standout if you did.

i love the crop. it feels like you are moving along with them with the camera .. as if you are following them more than standing sedentary
