The land between winter and spring has a neutral but complementary

quality for architecture. The symmetry of this old house is only broken by

the differing front and rear eaves.

I like the simplicity of this image and the way the tree cascades its shadow on the house. Good contrasting colors between the house and the sky.

Thanks, Tony. I boosted the sky slightly in PS, although the in-camera contrast was good. I like the form of the trees, which suggest the steep roof lines, but inverted. This is a simple but appealing house, built in 1702 or slightly earlier, which as a wood house has nonetheless endured many destructive winters.

Arthur, you are an optimist! There seems to be plenty of snow around! :-)

I like the starkness and simplicity of the composition but I also feel you captured the light well. It's one of those spring days where some warmth is in the air, but mostly because we had it cold for so long.

Christoph, thanks for your comment. Actually it was the second day of spring two years ago.

This year on March 23rd we had about 3 feet of snow (about a metre) still on the ground and that didn't go until a week or so ago! This becomes a lot warmer looking image in June, but I like the starkness.
