Outskirts of Suzhou

Sorry, but i can't explain why i am so so much attracted to this photo.

Wish i could but sometimes i think it's better not to try to rationalize our feelings. Into my favorites because i want to see it again, and again.

I shot this on the outskirts of Suzhou.

Your right Michail,  it's the slightly out of focus that draws me into the subject of the photo that also shows motion, and the curiosity of what there doing. I like it. Kelson

The treatment here very nearly pulls off a classic shot. The positioning and attitude of the two figures is excellent; you've caught them unawares, going about their daily business in the field or paddy. The white hats set against the darker tones of their bodies and the enveloping swirl of reeds or stalks really concentrates the attention on the labor of the workers. If you had managed a bit more sharpness in the central figures it would have been a picture for the ages.

Amazing photograph, Mark! The brightened vignette, harsh contrast and the sharpening contribute to a painterly, or even sketch-like effect, as if the scene has been drawn using a pencil. The fact people's faces are obscured in shadows makes this motif so much more universal and even ambiguous in interpretation.
