Hi Pierre,

I've read the comments generated and all are very interesting!! I tend to live a simple life. I know that I have my own conscious 'barometer' as to the difference between right and wrong. I don't consciously go out to harm anyone, by word or deed. I am not philosophic about Photographic images, I do find it a bit difficult to 'over see' into an image. Quite often I read comments that go on and on about someone's image, and once I start reading I'll often say 'huh??' to myself. I think because of how life affects each one of us, I am now at a more simpler 'outlook' on each day. If you get up on the 'right side of the grass' then you are very fortunate. If you can see, taste and hear, you are very blessed. If you make  good use of these 'gifts', have learned to tame your 'tongue' and control your 'temper' when faced with situations that would otherwise make you 'blow your top', then you are faring quite well. Most of all, if you have not fallen into the 'pit' of 'woe is me' and 'no reason to get up in the morning', then perhaps the 'world is your oyster'. If your life is a glorious histogram of colours and not flat lined 'levels' then most likely you are able to enjoy and find wonder in each and every day. These old fellows truly had their merits and were of amazing intelligence. Peoples lives have been changed and many have invested countless hours in studying their theories. But when you get right down to it, if you are 'constipated' and can't have a 'dump' - haven't had one in days, perhaps weeks - no matter what these 2 think, they aren't going to help you!! Doubled over in agony, you will only have one thing on your mind. I guess it all boils down to  - 'what spells relief to you???' (I don't mean YOU personally). Their theories have not affected how I treat people, how I speak to them, determine if I am able to lend a helping hand to someone who is obviously less fortunate, or perhaps doesn't even have their 'wits' about them. While these gentlemen have not directly affected how I live my life, I do salute their 'journeys' and 'quest' for meaning so many years ago. At the same time, I appreciate your artistic mind and how you manage to come  up with such visually stimulating and excellently composed compositions. I imagine, if given the opportunity, you would have given them both, a run for their money with the thoughts you would have to challenge them with. For to be sure, you are the Maestro!! with a very sharp mind and imagination!! I do not claim to be overly 'book learned', but I do know how to 'read' a genuine face, respond to a kind word, appreciate a warm and gentle touch, and realize what it means to be truly loved. Blessed with simple truths along the way, and able to appreciate someone who 'smiles' when he writes a few words under my images. Blessed to know you, Pierre :) Gail

Wow, Gail, you wrote a novel!

Unlike you I was always a philosopher and didn't care much for the common and usual things which were in the interests of others my age and elders also! I used to read a lot and to fantasize!

When I first studied Marxist philosophy which was in the first year of all faculties and first read about the different philosophic schools of the ancient cultures and the modern ones as well I thought to myself: "Look, I invented all these philosophies long time ago"!

Here are in "conflict" two great philosophers only regarding their contribution to the real, modern science or better to say their insights compared to what we consider absolutely certain in the field of the science! I find the one on the right far more contributing to it or better to say far closer to it!

Thank you for your flattering thoughts about me and my work, believe me I don't deserve such an honor!

Best

Great presentation! As for the philosophers... They will hardly succeed to convince each other!

It was obvious from the first moment that this genial post of yours would prove a great comments generator , especially among the most classic-orientated among us! I enjoyed reading the comments and your replies as much as viewing the image itself.  I have had the opportunity to use for my daily transactions the coins you used for this image , Petraki, but really the use of the great Stagerian gazing the great Abderian ~like if in philosophical debate ~is really genial!
A thought it just occurred to me : In the totally imaginery case that these two great men were confronted in front of TV cameras , the political debates would never be the same again after such a new standard would have been imposed!

Photographically speaking, in an ideal world, both heads would have been in their entiety ( uncropped that is !)

Philosophically speaking, after all these years I have returned to the warm reception of the pre-Sopcratic Ionic philosophers and their wisdom in the approach  of the issues that haunted their geniouses.

Many kind regards , Petraki, I am in total envy of your capabilities in creating thought provoking images and in giving them real life through  the comments chains they generate.   I know how hard you have worked to achieve this through the years and the endless hours in front of the keyboard  strengthening the bonds in this friendly community . Chapeau, file mou!

Is that all, file mou?

I like the last part best, and to show my gratitude for it I will make one with the entirety of their heads and send it to you!

Thank you very much for your contribution for the length of this page, ha!

"'tis so!",  "'tis not!", "'tis so!", "'tis not!", "'tis so!", "'tis not!", "'tis so!", "'tis not!", .................................................................................. :-)  Best, Len.

Sorry, I've done it to you again.  'tis is a contraction, short for 'it is'.  Substitute 'it is' and 'it is not' and you'll get my meaning.  :-)  Best, Len.
