I love the simple and informative title and I really like the way foreground and background seem to merge and play off each other. There's a lot of movement here, almost to a dizzying extent, and I like this kind of getting dizzy. It kind of immerses me in its swirls and I almost feel like I can keep going in and out of consciousness just by looking at this and following it through front to back, back to front, and getting lost in the middle.

Fred:  Simple is all my brain could manage.  The swirl is from the lens.  It's a Helios 44-2--all of 30-bucks on eBay.  It's a manual focus, so I actually have to think to get my shots.  This seemed fun, and I liked the tones I was able to create.  I always appreciate when you take the time to comment.  I wish I had more time to peruse the site as I used to do.

Trisha:  Thanks.  I know you like nature shots and have a penchant for  off-kilter captures.

Scruptious! The pin point depth of focus makes me think of something out of a lensbaby with this beautiful sweet spot and everything else loft in beautiful soft greys. Lovely photograph. It is one that you do feel calm staring at for awhile, just enjoying the peaceful feeling that it brings.

I like the tones and blur created here Jeff. The focus area is so tight  and isolated that I feel as though I'm looking into a tunnel, but it has a calming effect as others have stated. Nice work imho.

Thanks for your comments on the shot. The actual print turned out better than the digital version, I'm happy to say. It's nice to hear from all of you, and I appreciate your thoughts.

Lovely in feel indeed. The blurry movements and way you composed this give it a poetic & somewhat ephemeral sense.

Brilliant, making perfect use of what some of these oldie-goldie lenses are capable of. It's a swirling dream-like world where suddenly a piece of nature pierces through the whirlstorm of subtle tonalities.... Very nice.

I like the swirl it transmits which the BG is enhancing, creating a feeling of a dance.... it is a very nice B/W with 3 "layers"..the IN focus, the blurred leaves and the BG of the W/B( (not a mistake) DOF!

I would like to ask you as well to see one of subjects , and sign the petition!

I like the swirl of the Helios.  It's a fun lens to toy around with, and I get some goofy shots with it.  I've amassed a little arsenal of vintage lenses, but I keep returning to this one because it's so unpredictable).
