Although a "sister image" of this one has been in my favorites for quite long now i find this one equally interesting and successful image.

Thanks Michael. That very image was my inspiration for this shot! It appeared within my first year on Photo.net, and viewing that image led me to essentially stalk the above image until I got the right conditions. I certainly do not mind the comparison as this shot is an homage to that one :-)

Simply beautiful.

Normally when we see images like this, the shadows are very hard. That is not a bad thing but it is refreshing to see one a little softer.

David, I really love your observation about the shadows. They are hard where close to the steps and gradually softer where the curvature forces greater distance. That detail of this geometry was one of the physical conditions that I was "stalking" to get this image - thank you for calling it out.
