Nice one, for sure. The muted color seems to go so well with her expression, which is direct but still enigmatic. The green which seems to invade everything is not overwhelming even though it casts a sort of spell and her presence is just so strong here. It's like she simply won't let go. Great lighting on her, tempered by the feel of the polaroid film. Softly but beautifully focused and the lack of catch light in her eyes, which normally might bother me, seems very appropriate to the story of her being told here. This one stands out from the crowd. It has substance and style, and the two complement each other here.

Thank you both for the critique.

Fred, very good to hear from you again. Your comments on some of my decisions regarding this picture are spot on.

WHOOPS!  I uploaded the wrong two images the first time.  This is the correct original and my retouch.  Fred G got at some of the reasons old, faded photographs gain additional charm and meaning over the years. While I share that view I still wonder if it can be restored to something that imitates the original. I gave it a go using all the photoshop tools that seemed appropriate to me (knowing that my result is a harsh rendition of the Polaroid technology).

John, thank you for your comment and your work on the image.

The colors and look of the photograph are not the result of Polaroid material fading. I used this material (it is new, made by Impossible Project) with precisely this look in mind, including the greenish tint, unsharpness and all. In other words the look was my deliberate decision and I am happy to have achieved what I had in mind.

While I appreciate your version's colors may be closer to natural ones, I think I still prefer the original.

Thank you again for visiting and contributing!

Adam
