Mike -there must be something wrong with my computer or with the image -as all I see is white and then just the treetops? - Maybe it is just snow and treetops? - in that case I would have hoped/preferred that there would have been some details on the white..or maybe it is just that abstract:) - anyhow I think that the photo would have benefitted of details on the white area...br Hannu

 

Actually I think this is very good. The high contrast minimalism (love throwing around the jargon!) catches my interest. The snow is left to my imagination but I have no trouble seeing the near white out of a snow-covered field. I also like that the two groves of trees are not on the same horizon line leaving my brain to fill in the invisible hillocks.

Well, there is one well-known white album cover....and many artists referred of having a white period when they were searching for inspiration...- this could be half way stop in this process -and if this is the case I cancel the previous comment..after Jack has now thrown more light to the area:) ..br Hannu

Thank you both for the feedback on this.  Way back when the sod was first broken on these fields, farmers would plant hedge between the fields to help prevent wind erosion. This is a remnant of those days. This is pretty much the way it looked when I snapped the picture. The snow was deep & there was little drifting and uninterrupted cloud cover. I did crank on the contrast just a little, but that was to help get rid of a lot of dust on the negative. A bad scan,. I may try again later.  Again, thanks to you both for taking the time on this.
