morey_kitzman 0 Posted September 4, 2003 I shot several images on Fuji Velvia, the best one is in recent uploads. The light was constantly changing with the passing clouds. First one side of the canyon would light up and the other go dull and finally the shot came together. Just as I was packing up I remembered to load one txmax in the Fuji holder, something I rarely do, they often are difficult to pull out. I remember Phil Morris admonishing for not using BW. Thanks to Phil. Your thoughts and ratings are gladly accepted. Link to comment

majo srnik 0 Posted September 4, 2003 nice photo...i have just one qestion where is it? Link to comment
morey_kitzman 0 Posted September 4, 2003 Majo Gunnison is located in the central western part of Colorado. The canyon is west of this town and located in an area that you would least suspect it to be. It is not your typical mountainous area and the region surrounding the canyon is better described as big rolling hills. This is what is unusual about the area, you climb this one hill and a the top you look down into this chasm. There is nothing like it anywhere in the area and few miles from here is fairly agricultural. I have a color picture taken at the same time the shows the colors, it is not black, as you can see.The image was taken at 3 pm, hardly the magic hour. Thanks Link to comment
WJT 641 Posted September 5, 2003 Back about 10 years ago my wife and I visited the Black Canyon; came in from the north through Crawford. No one approaches from the north side so all one hears is the distant wind in the canyon and click beetles snapping in the sage brush. I fully coroborate the sense of surprise one has when you finally come to the canyon. The narrowness of the gorge in relation to its great depth is truly breathtaking. This photograph, as well as the color version, are outstanding. Are those feldspar intrusions in the black granite wall on the right. Unbelievable clarity! Nothing that I took during our visit even comes close. Regards. Link to comment
nanasousadias 0 Posted September 6, 2003 I'm glad you shooted this with Tmax, too! This must be a stunning 14x20 silver print! I use Tmax 100 readyload with the Kodak Readyload film holder, without any problems, it's a cheap film holder! Link to comment

matt_l.1 0 Posted September 7, 2003 WOW. A Beautiful picture, well worth the switch to b&w and waiting for the light. I just love the minute contrast detail. I just knew it would be LF when i saw the thumbnail. Great pic! Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted March 29, 2004 The light at the end of the valley is slightly distracting from the good light on the water and the left side of the left rocks. Link to comment
