Fred,  I like the image.  You fill the frame well.  The barn adds considerable warmth to the image, and you have achieved excellent depth of field - I also like the texture on the roof.    Beatiful snow capped mountains.  I just wish it would warm up.  Best to you.  Larry

This image certainly deserves all the kudos colleagues already have posted, and I agree with them wholeheartedly.  I have one further observation.

With the mountains in the background appearing so close to the barn, my first impression was that the barn somehow is out of place.  This is not a fault of the image, but a strength in my opinion.  I believe it has to do with the concept of cognitive dissonance, in this case my trying to reconcile the magnificent natural beauty of the mountains with a human creation.  I hope I've explained this well enough.

Congratulations on the POTD!

Hi Fred,

I've been to St. Ignatius and know first hand that the Mission Mountains do get that high that close. The simply explode from the valley floor. Wonderful hiking up to Elizabeth Falls waaaay up there and in the back. The rugged character is only accentuated by the snow. I appreciate the color and do wish I could see more of the barn, but I'm content with the framing at hand. My only other wish on this photo is that I'd like to see a larger version. There are lots of details there and I'd like to wander around.

This is a fine POD. Thanks for sharing it.

Best Wishes,

Laura
