This photo was shot with a Canon 60D in bulb mode using a 7-minute

exposure. It was then processed in Lightroom 3.6. It was my first

attempt at an exposure for more than a couple of minutes. I'd be

grateful if someone knew how to get rid of the dark band in the upper

portion of the sky. Eliminating noise in this photo was a fine

balance that took a lot of trial and error. This image was

essentially the best I could render in terms of luminance and noise

balance.

Yes, you sure picked a tough subject.

What would I do?

First choice another subject - risk / reward - if not,

A Nik D3, some raw converters can fill in the burn outs well. :-)

Some sharpening effects are possible.

Its all learning and you sure had a go as they say in the classics.
