Pierre,  Great B/W portrait.  I too like how the hat just barely exposes the eyes.  Intriguing image.  Well done!!!!!   AJ

Thank you, AJ!

There is a reason why the hat almost covers his eyes, secret reason for he imagines that he's a secret agent from some other planet! Ha!

Madman?  Not so sure . . .  This gentleman, for all we know, could be the next incarnation of the Buddha, or the next Jesus, or simply a man wearing a hat.  His eyes might provide a clue, because they and his entire expression reveal total concentration.  So I cast my vote for the Buddha, whose meditative abilities pave the way for enlightenment and peace.  Oops - not to slight Jesus, who shares with the Buddha the means to address pain in the world.

The dark tonality of this image is perfect, enabling you to have created what I consider to be a superior portrait.  If it happens to be a self-portrait, so much the better.

My best always,

michael

Michael,

I told you are the best commentator on this site and you are proving it once more! Can't see nothing of Buddha on the image of this cold blooded murderer, neither of Jesus, but when you say so, there must be something to my joy!

Thank you very much for your precious comment!

Ciaomau

Pietro il pazzo consapevole!

You certainly have managed to concentrate the energy and kept it under your hat, so to speak. The red numeral certainly influences our perception of the scene and introduces a certain air of mystery to the picture.

Thank you Jack!

The number one is for the first of February, most likely! I don't know why I left it, but it certainly has a meaning because this is the first of the series of the madman pictures!

Such a striking image! The eyes, the skin, the details in the beard, hat and sweater - they are all so well done. Congratulations on such fine work.

Pierre,

I think he could be a very good card player his eyes impenetrable, don't you?  He is a madman because he does not speak often. May be he should speak out and the problem will be solved. I believe he is a nice guy!

Best regards, Tina

Ahhhh, a Madman with wonderful taste in hats!! I don't know that he could be all that mad?? The local Archeologist looks good in the same kind of hat. So I would think this 'Madman' is in very good company!!!

I think he was just about to smile just as the shutter was pressed! Well done Pierre, we all wear many 'masks', but you are among the more adorable!!! Cheers for now, Gail

Well done, Pierre, I think he is very sad too. Wonder why.

His eyes have some tears, hope he gets happy soon.  Regards.

Hey, Tina!

My dear Tina, he was a card player and never lost a game of poker once upon the time! He also played preference and was very successful at that game too! What problem is there to be solved I don't know, madmen never have unsolvable problem, the solution is always in their mind!

Thank you for your second cute comment!

Dear Gail,

Wait to see! This man looks very serious and dangerous even when he thinks he's smiling! The hat is his father's in law, may God rest his soul! He inherited but just a picture of it!

Thank you for your cute comment!

An elegant portrait Pierre, almost professorial .... (I always enjoyed that picture of the man in the red hat). regards Oliver.

Hi Pierre, Great portrait. He looks like just the man I need to speak to my 17 year old, who does not want to go to College! Love the hat and the way it follows the top of his eye line. A very thoughtful portrait, well done my friend.

Thank you Oliver,

I had to see in my dictionary what "professorial" is meant to mean! And now I can tell you that this man has a diploma in which it says "Professor of..."!
