Very nice light. Nice scene. As one who takes a fair number of verticals, I'm curious what in this scene made you go vertical?

Alex,  Excellent image,  I ditto the question, why vertical?  It works, especially in creating the diagonal line of bales from bottom right toward the left.  Still, I think a horizontal image would be more panoramic, it would be a different image.  This is why we create images rather than "take pictures."   I like your other Alberta shots as well, including the Paradise Valley grain elevators.   Larry

Thanks Andrew for stopping by and for your comment!

As you say, the scene and the light were beautiful so I stopped at this spot and shot about eight frames, equally spread by orientation. While there was lots of interesting detail on the ground the clouds were pretty high so all the horizontal frames ended up with a featureless blue strip at the top.

So I decided to fit somehow the few high clouds in a shape that would echo and balance what was going on in the field. This frame did it for me.

Best regards, Alex

Larry, as I was saying above the skies sort of guided me to turn the camera up right!

And you are right about the diagonal: I was framing so as to get the bottom triangle made by the bales and the left bottom corner to match the upper right triangle made by the clouds and trying at the same time to have three equal stripes of yellow, blue, and white.

It took me a while and some leg work but luckily the higher vantage point helped. From here I headed straight to the "Paradise Valley" so please take a look, I will add a couple of shots.

Thanks for your visit and for your comments, best regards, Alex
