brad_tennyson 0 Posted May 12, 2001 My wife and I are beginners in photography. We purchased an inexpensive Minolta Maxxum QTsi SLR camera. We love Black & White photos, and the basis of our new hobby is my son (in the picture). I'm interested in getting any suggestions of how this picture looks. This picture is the number 2 picture from our very first roll of film. We thought it turned out pretty good, but we want your opinions! Thanks! Link to comment
alex_medeiros 0 Posted May 12, 2001 There is some interesting lighting on the childs face. The way the feet are cut off is a little distracting. Positioning the subject right in the middle often leads to a more static picture. I probably would have positioned the subject's face in the upper left as it would add dimension and give a better sense of what he is looking at. Link to comment
kenneth_houston1 0 Posted May 12, 2001 I agree with the previous poster about the composition; shoot plenty of film, and try not to center the subject dead center. Tip; with children, get the camera angle down to their level (ground zero). It will make for an interesting perspective. Good luck! Link to comment
kratoville 0 Posted May 12, 2001 Great picture, except - and I always have this problem - you cut the feet off. I don't mind the centered position, but you need to keep in the feet and a small portion of the ground (dock) in front. Link to comment
kevin_kolosky 2 Posted May 12, 2001 I think a little bit of fill lighting on the broad side of his face would have helped as well. Perhaps from a reflector. Kevin Link to comment
tom_menegatos 0 Posted May 12, 2001 A little fill and not chopping off the feet would be nice. Good attempt for your first roll. Link to comment
