Oliver i like the fact that your photo has no shadows at all. Professionals use noumerous light sources to achive that and you did an excellent job....but, it's your focus again.

You own a superb lense, so i think its because you use a low number for your diaphragm.

In this case (with f/4) if you took the picture from half a meter away (1,64 feet) you only have a crystal clear depth of field only 1,12 cm (0.0367feet). It's impossible to fit any object (or any cute kitty) in a space ____ that thick.

Try using f/8 to f11 if the light conditions allow this. By the way, this range of diaphragm is usually the most quality effective on every lense so not only you have a better DOF but you also get back the money you 've spend for your expensive equipment.
