This would have been just okay with the one specimen, but with the 2nd pod )?) in the background, it fills the frame out nicely.  It's really tack sharp.....great detail!

Common teasel but nothing common about this photo. It has a beautiful lyrical quality, a melody of nature.

Long time no see.  Good of you to take the time on this one.  Just trying out my new D5100 & this seemed a good subject on which to test the sharpness of the lens.  It passes.  Best, LM.

I was pleased with the result but since it was mostly monochrome anyway I thought B&W suited it.  If I'd seen this version first I might not have posted mine. :-)  Best, LM.

Not much colour but lots in the way of texture.  Took a bit of searching on the internet to even find out it's name.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this really attracted my eye.  Those spikes on the stem seem a deterrent to anyone deciding to pick them for a bouquet at home.  Best, LM.

Len,

It is very attractive.  How about the color version?  The sharp needles would give more light...  Anyhow, we could compare them.  Love your works.  Best Regards,

Since you ask, here is the colour version. Each has it's own virtues.  Which do you prefer?  The colour version is actually the one I printed.  Best, LM.

My vote is for the B&W.....it shows the texture a little better.

Your vote is duly recorded.  :-)  I think I may have increased the contrast a tad on the B&W version.  Might make a difference.  Merry Christmas.  See you in 2014.  LM.

Nature has a tendency  sometime , to add some details that are not very comon to the usual  teasel.. the point is to observe the unusual!and this one is! colored as well as the B/W.Very nice light and shadows and details!

I was just going for a walk with my new camera while waiting for a relative to return from an appointment.  This 'Common Teasel' just begged to be photographed so I obliged it.  :-)  More luck than studied intention.  The large pod with so much texture was my initial attraction.  Keep on recovering and I'll continue these dialogues in 2014.  Best, LM.

This was one of the first shots taken with my new D5100.  The camera and lens have seldom disappointed me, and then the fault was likely mine.  Thanks for the follow-up.  Best, Len.
