Christal1664882414 0 Posted December 9, 2013 This would have been just okay with the one specimen, but with the 2nd pod )?) in the background, it fills the frame out nicely. It's really tack sharp.....great detail!
Jack McRitchie 151 Posted December 9, 2013 Common teasel but nothing common about this photo. It has a beautiful lyrical quality, a melody of nature.
LenMarriott 9 Posted December 10, 2013 Long time no see. Good of you to take the time on this one. Just trying out my new D5100 & this seemed a good subject on which to test the sharpness of the lens. It passes. Best, LM.
LenMarriott 9 Posted December 10, 2013 I was pleased with the result but since it was mostly monochrome anyway I thought B&W suited it. If I'd seen this version first I might not have posted mine. :-) Best, LM.
LenMarriott 9 Posted December 10, 2013 Not much colour but lots in the way of texture. Took a bit of searching on the internet to even find out it's name. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this really attracted my eye. Those spikes on the stem seem a deterrent to anyone deciding to pick them for a bouquet at home. Best, LM.
w-j-li 0 Posted December 16, 2013 Len,It is very attractive. How about the color version? The sharp needles would give more light... Anyhow, we could compare them. Love your works. Best Regards,
LenMarriott 9 Posted December 17, 2013 Since you ask, here is the colour version. Each has it's own virtues. Which do you prefer? The colour version is actually the one I printed. Best, LM.
Christal1664882414 0 Posted December 18, 2013 My vote is for the B&W.....it shows the texture a little better.
LenMarriott 9 Posted December 18, 2013 Your vote is duly recorded. :-) I think I may have increased the contrast a tad on the B&W version. Might make a difference. Merry Christmas. See you in 2014. LM.
pnital 36 Posted December 24, 2013 Nature has a tendency sometime , to add some details that are not very comon to the usual teasel.. the point is to observe the unusual!and this one is! colored as well as the B/W.Very nice light and shadows and details!
LenMarriott 9 Posted December 24, 2013 I was just going for a walk with my new camera while waiting for a relative to return from an appointment. This 'Common Teasel' just begged to be photographed so I obliged it. :-) More luck than studied intention. The large pod with so much texture was my initial attraction. Keep on recovering and I'll continue these dialogues in 2014. Best, LM.
LenMarriott 9 Posted January 26, 2014 Your constructive comment\critique will be gratefully received. LM.
LenMarriott 9 Posted January 26, 2014 Thanks for the validation. Always good to hear from you. Best, LM.
hstelljes 41 Posted February 1, 2016 Awesome Photo Len, the detail is outstanding and dof is also. Thanks for linking this to your comment on mine.Best, Holger
LenMarriott 9 Posted February 2, 2016 This was one of the first shots taken with my new D5100. The camera and lens have seldom disappointed me, and then the fault was likely mine. Thanks for the follow-up. Best, Len.
