Ooops Oliver, you (or the camera) missed the correct focus point i am afraid. When seen in large view you can see that the hands are perfectly focus and that the head is not. Never mind though, keep shooting and appreciating your friend. That's more important than a missed focus.

Agree with the above.

Plus maybe a bit of fill light on the subject might help. This will provide a bit more separation of the subject against the background.

The mundane elements in the background do add to the story.
