JamieK 1 Posted November 19, 2013 We should not crave the extinction the wasp lineage, as you admonish, but of them, you must undoubtably admit, there is a surfeit. epd Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 285 Posted November 19, 2013 Welcome back, Evgeni and thank you for your sincere comment! PDE Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 285 Posted November 19, 2013 I accused only Jamie of being a wasp killer, I didn't blame the whole family for the extinction of the wasp lineage! And that was a joke epd! And who is "them", I can't understand! Who or what is surfeit, epd? pde Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted November 20, 2013 I may be wrong, but I think this image is a combination of 2 layers, but Kudos to you Pierre if I am right as it was a very artistic choice!! To me, the flowers remind me pressed flowers, and it is almost as if with the texture, they could be on a wall (figuratively). Ever heard of that expression, 'Wish I could be a 'fly' on that wall'?? Here it is if the 3 dimensional bee is on the 'wall'. Excellent choice of selective coloring within the layers as well. Forgive me if I am wrong. But if I am not, I think it is a brilliant composition!!!Fond regards, Gail Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 285 Posted November 20, 2013 Welcome, Gail! I haven't heard of that expression, but I can tell you there is texture, then the layer of the dried flowers and then the wasp! Actually background (the texture) and two layers! If you asked me that, then you are right! Thank you for your keen eye observation and for your precious visit, first of all! PDE Link to comment
JamieK 1 Posted November 20, 2013 |ˈsərfət| an excessive amount of something. also, a word whose pronunciation rhymes with that of the word "Admit." all best, Pierre. epd Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 285 Posted November 21, 2013 Welcome back epd, I didn't say translate me the word surfeit, I said who or what is surfeit, meaning is it the wasp on the earth, on this picture, is it the dried BW flower or is it the background! I thought we were talking about the picture! pde P.S. |aed'mit|, it doesn't seem the pronunciation to rhyme with |ˈsərfət|! Link to comment
Elstad 9 Posted November 22, 2013 Nicely made my friend and it reminds me of a not so lovely personal memory. Long ago I lived out in the Oregon woods. One day as I was working on my tractor and drinking a beer, I put the beer to my lips and took a pull. I was immediately stung about 5 times by one of these hornets. I spit it upon the ground and stomped it into the earth. Then... I cried, and cried some more. What Pain! This does make a good story but it was not so pleasant and the time :=}Raymond Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 285 Posted November 22, 2013 I would have made a mighty good picture out of that event, Raymond! Now you maybe know that it is not good to drink beer while working or more precisely, not good to work while drinking beer! Ha! Thanks for your cute story and for your visit! PDE Link to comment

Pierre Dumas 285 Posted November 25, 2013 Hey, Pat! Long time no see, my friend! In your comment I like most the word "though" in the context used, of course! Yes, I did a try to make a change, but...don't know exactly how good it came up! You say you like it and that supports my trying to do something else!Thank you for that! PDE Link to comment
Tina Karina 47 Posted December 6, 2013 Hi Pierre,Those flowers blooms almost in late summer and the bee wants to survive but the end it's very sad for both of them. I like what brings me a smile but not sadness.Best regards, Tina Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 285 Posted December 6, 2013 No, Tina, they are dried flowers kept in a book for twenty years maybe, yet, they are still alive! They represent immortality of love and life!Thank you for your precious visit and comment! PDE Link to comment
