Ha, ha! It's Pierre, a? These creatures are almost holy by our tradition, they live somewhere in the house or around! I haven't seen one a long time now, but I found two of them in my bath tub trying to escape! I simply helped them to do it under one condition: Photographing first! They are so cute, I love them!

Hi Pierre, yes disgusting, I agree with you! I’m also in favor of cessation of smoking, but the problem is that people who smoke will always see us that favor these motions as selfish ones!!! :( what I see most incredible of all is that people get trap in their own choices, they know how bad it’s not only for them to smoke cigarettes, but for us that do not smoke, and for the environment that you well represent here with the lizard; however they finally get to the point that they don’t care just to satisfy their own destructive vicious habits. Another problem that I see is the butts, smokers thrown  them out without minding that they  are polluting the environment, cause fires that destroy thousands of miles of nature and the worst thing of all is that they didn't even realize that butts don’t degrade so easy.  Finally  I always think how incongruent we are as a human beings,  we are describe as the rational beings to establish a huge difference with the animals, however  animals are trying  always to  protect their environment and themselves of the things that cause them damage.   Oops!!!   ????????????

Welcome back, Luisa! Quite a persuasive speech, but alas, already heard so many times! Why oops? I must admit that I'm an incurable smoker and drinker, but I smoke electronic cigarettes two years now and none is complaining, only I have great troubles with obtaining all I need! And it's expensive, especially with every third Chinese product in good and usable condition, about the waiting for months not to speak! And I did it only for my surrounding cause I don't care about my health and my life! But I respect other people's care for theirs and did this gesture for the benefit of others!

Quite an  amazing shot, nicely caught, we so often fall into traps during our lives, there is not always an easy way out .. the corporate environment is certainly one I have experienced ..  poor little fellow, I hope you freed him after ..

 

there seem to be some comments that are more focused on the act of smoking than on the photography. I don't smoke personally and I  never have, but I am more shocked by how puritanical and invasive society has become than by the act it itself.

 

Whereas I agree that others should be spared from passive smoking and pollution of the air, I absolutely do not sympathize with those that wish to impose their vision on what others should or should not do. Censorship and prejudice are also traps.  Why not the Burka next ?

I would agree with the title for the water soaked butts in the bottom of the vessel but with the addition of the lizard this becomes something else entirely.

Even a lizard has the good sense to try getting away from cigarettes.  Unfortunately, the slippery character of the container prevents its escape.  This is quite a powerful commentary on the hold tobacco has on people.

A part from your excellent editing ,it looks so real in every possible ways ,here is a smoker testimony,I have never ever kept an ashtray beside me ,or use it when it is wet ,or allowed any one one to add water to an ashtray,because it turns to a real disgusting image as yours ,and for me the wet ashtray is enough even without the lizard .

If all ashtrays are wet ,I may stop smoking ,but luckily for me they are not .

This isn't an ashtray which we put on the table, Saad! It is cardboard box of 1 liter of milk! We put it on the fence of the balcony, cause we don't smoke real cigarettes indoor! And we don't even see the butts and the water sitting in a chair! Otherwise, I also hate wet ashtrays!

(coño is an expression that in Spanish is use to flavor the moment, it fits perfect for your wit and cleverness) Is consider a bad word but creatives had introduced in TV and Radio commercials by using only ño!
