Never mind, David, I also don't know the meaning of my work, it will come up to me in a moment of enlightenment one day or maybe sooner! Thank you for your nice comment!

Hi Pierre,

I feel as if I have entered into "the house of genius".

Your mind and the spider journey though time, each with a purpose in life.

Well done my friend.

Best Regards, Uncle Mike

Thank you for your visit and nice comment, Tamara! Unfortunately you can't save it, you may only put in your clipboard by pressing Ctrl and pause/break in the same time and later paste it on a new file in your Photoshop with pressing Ctrl + V in the same time! Don't forgot to click on flatten image in layers section!

Pierre,

Thought I recognized that face as I saw this one scrolling across PN's homepage as part of the "Daily Photo Sampling" this morning!

Interesting indeed, . . . as most all your work!

At first, I thought maybe there was a fence involved but, then again maybe not!

Regards with much Cheer!

Having never seen an image like this before, much less one described as a self-portrait, I'm not sure where to start.  Oh well, here it comes.

At first I thought the spider was simply pausing on a web of its creation, waiting for an opportune moment to strike.  Then it came to me that the web is one of your making and it is not a physical one, but a conscious - perhaps spiritual - one.  The spider too is not a physical being; it is allegorical, symbolizing the darker circumstances you have had to face in your own life.  And you have constructed the web to keep them from returning.

I consider it a privilege to view your work.  It always keeps my own creative juices flowing.

My best always,

michael

Caro Pierre, geniale come al solito! Guardare in faccia le nostre paure è l'unico modo di non cadere nelle loro ragnatele e non essere divorati da esse. Ciao amico mio e grazie come sempre. Maurizio.

Michael, you are not only the best critiquer of my pictures, you are also a fortune teller! When I thought back of the days when this was made I experience with the help of your comment a real enlightenment! Sometimes, in the moment of enlightenment the meaning of my pictures pop up all of a sudden in my mind. This time you stimulated my enlightenment!

Thank you for that!

Thank you for the compliment too!

Hello Pierre:

No wonder this image of yours has created such a stir. It is outstanding and original as all of your work, but this has actually captured everyone's attention, as it is a striking and powerful image. It also reflects how much admiration and respect there is among this great PN community, clearly denoting your participation in it as meaningful, influential and transcendental. Superb technical dexterity, which is one of your many trademarks. Congratulations.

Very sincere confession for the lack of an obvious attempted significance about the image's meaning , leaving you with the task of unveiling it in the near or distant future!

On the other hand , this is a great opportunity for gathering various decipherments from all of us ( confusing you even more, perhaps!)

Seeing this image I let my own "seeing"  emerge : the key element for me here is the owl-like penetrating gaze directly to the viewer's eyes. The intruding mosaic creates a virtual safety from the spider touch, thus comforting for any arachnophobic thoughts. The stretched arms , obviously holding the camera , seem like holding the mosaic cage which encapsulates the trapped spider, rather the victim than the predator, who is definitely this hawk-eyed , bearded , infinitely creative  friend of ours with the victorious  glimpse on the eyes
