antonio.giacomo 0 Posted August 26, 2003 I agree with all the above comments. We expect more of the same. I think I know where I will be spending my holiday next year. Malta seems to be very photogenic. My only suggestion is that, when applying softening, I have found it best not to soften the eyes and the edge of the figure. After all, the model has probably spent some effort putting the eye makeup on, so the photographer should not really smudge it all up. It is a bit fiddly, because a freehand mask has to be drawn. An alternative is to use a soft focus filter on the lens. Lee Filters make a range of soft focus filters developed for the film industry, ranging from very subtle to a heavy diffusion. Another way is to smear petroleum jelly on the front of the lens until the right effect is obtained, although I am not inclined to do that with a $1000 Zenanon portrait lens. Link to comment
sarah marie jones 0 Posted August 26, 2003 You've done an outstanding job here matching tonal range and the soft focus to give it that really dreamy look. A winning, sexy shot. Nice work ! Best Regards, Sarah Link to comment
vatovec 0 Posted August 26, 2003 I am with Giacomo about the soft focus effect - however i don`t like it very much, and am not sure that ads something to this picture. The composition is correctly done - what i find very interesting in this picture is the expression of the model/photographer which is very naturally looking for a posed (self)portrait. You`re on the right way however. Link to comment
