charles_brennan 0 Posted October 26, 2013 Viewed large this is spectacular. Very sharp and colorful. Wonderfully blurred background makes the bird really stand out. There's also fantastic color and texture in the tree. I've been looking at the Sigma 500mm - now I really want one. Thanks for sharing. Link to comment
JM-Kuva 12 Posted October 27, 2013 James, Charles... Thank You!I only recently acquired The Sigma 500mm F4.5. Previously I have photographed birds with The Olympus E-5 and Zuiko 300mm F2.8 and Nikon D7000 and Nikkor AF-S 300mm F4. The Sigma focus is combarable to the Nikkor 300mm F4. Sharpness wide Open (4.5) is similar to the Nikkor, the Zuiko 300mm F2.8 is little bit sharper... Contrast is lower with the Sigma but easily corrected in image editing especially with RAW format. Nikkor and The Sigma could use a weather sealing. With a D7000 crop sensor the Sigma 500mm F4.5 seems to be a good lens for bird photography. Link to comment
