Here's what people have to do with their homes since Hurricane

Sandy. If you live near the water and you wish to rebuild you must

raise your house. Different heights in different towns but generally 6-

8 feet. Your thoughts and comments are always welcome. Thanks

for looking.

Thanks for sharing. A curious sight and site - seeing one house so much higher than the others gives it a unique quality.

Very cool documentary shot.  Thanks for the narrative.

Maybe they should build a boat hull under the thing too...

The building code on our coastline has required coastal houses to be built on stilts for years due to hurricane activity.  In fact, the lower floor is often left open so that the storm surge will just go under the house.  I'm sure the houses on either side will have to comply in order to get insurance.  I hope this is all just for caution and that you don't get any more Sandy's... Thanks to all that have left comments. Mike you're so right, eventually these people will have to comply or move. Sad but necessary. I was very fortunate to be spared as far as this type of thing goes. Thanks for your insightful comments. See you all soon.

Fascinating record shot of life after Sandy. I think I'd like to see a wider shot to see how this house looks in relation to the others. The little snippet we get from either side suggests that this is the odd one out sitting so high. It would be good to see other houses to provide a context.

This would be almost comic is it wasn't born of such tragedy. It's a shot just asking to be taken. Lucky you were the one with the camera.
