brian_veit 0 Posted May 9, 2001 Any suggestions for Black and white portraits? Starting slow, using single light (Novatron bare bulb 120 w/s). Newbie . . . be gentle. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 9, 2001 I think this is a cracking picture and should be viewed by all those equipment freaks who think that they need to spend a fortune on the latest and best in order to get anything worthwhile. If I wanted to be picky I would suggest that the composition could be improved, by giving her some space in front to look into - you don't want a centralised picture here. If there is no room on the neg to allow this you could still improve it, by cropping to the right. Hope this helps. Link to comment
kevin_kolosky 2 Posted May 9, 2001 Brian Not Bad! But if you will notice her back, it shows no detail, which means that your exposure went beyond the range of the paper. since you have only one light, the next thing to consider is a reflector on that shadow side to put a little bit of light there. You can use just about anything such as a large piece of cardboard pained white, or anything that will reflect light. Keep shooting. kevin Link to comment
