Thanks for the comment. Now that you included the example of increased contrast I could agree, but I don't really see the difference on my monitor. I hate classic compositions... they are too boring. ;)

There are no rules really I like odd compositions too, its just that dark object sticking in the upper right takes my attention away from her beautiful face. Thanks for sharing.

I would not have cropped either. My immediate feeling when I saw the photo was : She was walking away. Why did she stop to turn ? The space to the right creates a feeling of moving away.

Tip top portrait in my book. Unique in every way. Far from the madding crowd of usual portraits.

I think it is fine the way you present it. The sharpness of the eyes more than makes up for the overall high key nature of the image. I have a bias considering the odd way I place models in the frame myself.

Nice one Chris. I wouldn't change a thing. The overall composition and softness help make it what it is.

I think this is pretty cool! I love the low contrast... her body just flows into the background. I like the original version better than the crop. What lens did you use for this?

IJI: This image contains an optical illusion-if you stare into her eyes for 90 seconds, you will see a faint gray object in the upper right :>)

Normally, I like to see some rich blacks in even a high key photo, but this one, after careful deliberation, works. Love the antidisestablishment composition. Don't know why there's grain--are you having trouble scanning, or did you add it? This one wants to be creamy, not grainy. A great moment captured.

Beautiful lady, beautiful shot. The lack of contrast is good by me, it makes the image closer to a sketch in soft pencil (if that makes any sense :-; But I second the observation about being different - i.e. not having a perfect histogram why worry when you've got the shot? Nice work.

Very impressive work Chris. You seem to pull these images like from a magic endless bag. Your recent postings are just amazing and far exeding your previous works. Great and still improving talent. Congrats on your way to the top.

Ps. I do not agree with you that clasic composition is just boring. Still 90 some % of now and then masterpieces are done this way. Picture is either timeless or not regardless how you frame it. What I love about your work is your unique ability to bond with a model and thus capture their sole in the eyes. The crop no matter to me.

I feel exactly the same. Cropping it completely removes this feeling of movement, of her walking away and then turning back to look at you. Well done.

Yes, is the answer. The question could be anything she asks..I'm that captivated(Her expression speaks volumes).

...and yes to your entire portfolio. Best compilation of composition work I've seen! and YES to your depth of field use.

Inspiring,

I love the composition and the high-key in general, but the shoulder looks too light and removed from her neck to me. There was a comment on the lack of rich blacks in this that I don't share - I see very rich blacks in the eyes, mouth and hair, and think they have a lot to do with the success of the image.

This lady is very beautiful and this photograph of her is just as beautiful. She is so soft, so feminine and so perfect. I can almost hear her voice ... soft and inviting. Its almost like its hard to picture her angry. Well done - excellent work. 7/7

true, I probably would, but in this medium we can pretend - reality can be such a let down, I choose the illusion :)

I agree, your original crop/composition looks best and unboring. :) Are you on deviantart.com by any chance?
